Why You Should Prepare For Spring Cleaning
Sometimes the thought of how to prepare for spring cleaning is a daunting prospect for the most seasoned cleaning pro. But, everyone would agree, it’s worth it. The health benefits of having a cleaner home and the process by which you get there have been proven to reduce stress, help lower anxiety and relieve the pressure that allergens can put on us around this time of year.
However, to get there we must plan and prepare. Our Hygiene & Catering division put together the steps below to help you prepare for spring cleaning.
Step 1. Create A Schedule
If you’re being realistic, you can’t do your whole house in a day. We would suggest doing one room per day, but you can also do it based on task. Creating a schedule can help prioritise tasks and make sure procrastination doesn’t set in.
Always remember to start from the top down. Whether it’s a whole house or a single room. This is because any dust that you stir will inevitably be affected by gravity and make its way to the ground. So, leaving floors until last is a general rule and best practice.
Step 2. What Products Do You Need To Clean?
Once you have a list of what you need to do, you need to make sure you have the products and tools to get each job done right. Sometimes if you ‘make do’ with what you have, you will have to do some tasks again. This means the process, in general, takes longer.
Here are a few ideas to start off your list:
- Glass Cleaner
- Bathroom Cleaner
- Toilet Cleaner
- Multi-Purpose Cleaner
- Oven Cleaner
- Kitchen Cleaner
- Dust Pan & Brush
- Rubber Gloves

Step 3. Declutter Your Home
If you haven’t used something in six months, consider throwing it away. This doesn’t include seasonal items or clothing, of course. Separate them into Keep, Donate or Throw Away piles.
This will free up space in your home and allow you to get an even deeper clean.
Step 4. Start Your Cleaning
You are now organised and ready to tackle any cleaning challenges ahead. With your space decluttered, a schedule in place and all the right products, you can clean your home efficiently and effectively.
