The Story so far:
From an original line-up of just two; John MacGregor
and present buyer, Derek Massey, to a current staff
of 110, with a collective 141 years of experience amongst
its senior management.
Managing director, John MacGregor, is the first
to admit that the success of the company is down to
the men and women who make up the MIS team. "We have
built a strong management team over the last twenty
years. This has not only given us great experience
but rare stability in a market that changes on a regular
basis."
Sales director, Iain MacKenzie, has been with the
company 18 years and as part of his many management
duties heads up the external sales team, with a keen
eye on the welding division.
Buyer, Derek Massey, was the company's first employee
back in 1985 and has been with MIS for over 20 years. Hygiene and Catering manager, Hamish Stuart,
joined MIS as a butcher back in the MacGregor supermarket
days and boasts almost 30 years service for the family.
An MIS employee for 15 years, Robbie Williamson,
Aquaculture manager, has taken the company's association
with this service to a new level.
He works tirelessly with end users to reduce their
costs as the industry goes through a transitional
peroid. Showroom manager, Willie Anderson, has been
with MIS for 20 years having previously worked for
MacGregor in the Alness supermarket.
A trained agriculture engineer and ex Barmac pipe
fitter, Hire manager, Allan Ross, has developed the
division over the last ten years.
Heading up Hydraulics and Hose, Fraser Dinsdale,
has gained a wealth of knowledge in his for 16 years
in the Industrial Hose and Hydraulic industry, having
spent 10 of those years at MIS.
Wendy Heard, Workwear manager, has built up the division
over the last ten years and now has a team of four
under her guidance.
Workshop manager, Ian Hendry, joined the MIS team
seven years ago and has used his considerable experience
of his Washair days to run the busy repair department.
The Autosmart Franchise has been in the hands of MIS for the past 15
years and a mobile showroom is available to customers in the North East Coast and the Highlands.
Standing still is not an option, so moving forward,
MIS has added several new departments and divisions
over the last few years.
A dedicated Ironmongery division was introduced only
a year ago under the guidance of Jim McKellar who
has brought 20 years of experience in architectural
ironmongery to the department.
The Forest and Garden division was also established
3 years ago and is headed up by Craig Chalmers who
has spent his entire career working with grass machinery.
Under his leadership, the division supplies the best
names in the business including Husqvarna, John Deere
and Westwood as well as offering a servicing and sharpening
facility.
Catherine MacKenzie runs the Western Isles depot
in Stornoway which was opened five years ago. The
division has three staff but it is set for expansion
with new, larger premises on the horizon.
John MacGregor and his team are looking forward to
the future.
