"North supplier has plans for expansion": MacGregor Industrial Supplies is on course to hit £18million in turnover this financial year, and now hopes to open a new depot in the north by the middle of 2012.
 Managing director John MacGregor said the company’s sales were up about 14% year-on-year. He revealed the company was already in talks for new sites at locations across the Highlands to add to its Inverness headquarters and depots at Elgin and Stornoway.He said: “We have identified some areas of the country where we would like to have a satellite depot, and we are already speaking to property people to see if we can make that happen.”
Mr MacGregor added that the expansion would also mean the firm, now in its 25th year, would add to its 160-strong workforce.
The company has already started work on a £100,000 extension to its Elgin branch, and Mr MacGregor said he also hoped to add floor space to its Inverness offices in the coming weeks. He said the company had recently earned three accreditation certificates in quality management, environmental standards and occupational health and safety management systems, adding: “These accreditations are good news for us as we look to continue bidding for major contracts.”
