With a considerable customer base in the Western
Isles, it made complete business sense for MacGregor
to open a depot in Stornoway, currently staffed by
three people, (l to r) Craig Stevenson, Mandy Beaton
and Catherine Mackenzie (Depot Manager)
In fact, the depot has proved so successful, MIS
is actively looking for larger premises. The premises
carry a huge range of health and safety gear from
hard hats, boiler suits, safety gloves, footwear to
high visibility jackets.
In Hygiene and Catering, there are supplies of detergents,
cleaning products, mops, buckets and utensils including
kettles and teapots, and in Welding, everything a
welder would possibly need can also be found.
But the list does not end there. Those in the construction
industry can pick up all the basics they require such
as hand tools, hammers, nails, paints and sealants
as well as larger items including wheelbarrows, ladders,
traffic cones and even road signage.
Filling 200 square metres of floorspace, the depot
operates a counter-service where goods are brought
up from the stock room to be taken away immediately.
For any specialist product, items can be checked online
for availability in Inverness and shipped over for
collection the next day. Goods can also be delivered
from a supplier straight to the customer's door step
to minimise downtime and delay.
Since opening three years ago the Rigs Road depot
has proved a huge hit with Western Isles customers
who can pick up almost everything they need.
